Quick Facts
- Articles from thousands of journals are available to UAA students free of charge
- General Internet sites don't know this
- Database vendors don't know what we have purchased from other vendors
- If you are asked to pay for an article, check Journals A-Z and interlibrary loan before doing so
Journals A-Z and interlibrary loans can save you a lot of money if you normally search for articles with Google or go directly to sites like the Anchorage Daily News. Many of these sites charge fees for access to articles that are more than a few days old. Some of the databases to which UAA subscribes also offer the option to purchase copies of articles that cannot be read from within them. Unfortunately, those databases do not track the content that is available in other databases to which UAA subscribes.
UAA has purchased access rights to articles in thousands of journals and magazines. Journals A-Z keeps a record of all of these journals and where they are located. Journals A-Z is located at the bottom of the library's home page.
What isn't available through Journals A-Z can usually be obtained through interlibrary loan. An interlibrary loan request form is available in the gray box to the left.
