LSIS A202
Concepts and Processes:
Natural Sciences

Spring 2003

As part of our study of projectile motion, the LSIS A202 Concepts and Processes: Natural Science class constructed a scaled-down trebuchet. The Warwolf is a 1/10 scale reproduction of the medieval siege machine used by King Edward I of England.  The trebuchet was the atomic bomb of the Lat 12th and Early 13th century. The Warwolf was approximately 50 feet tall and was capable of tossing a 300 lbs. boulder 125 mph into a castle wall. Our machine reaches over 5 feet tall and can hurl a ½ pound “missile” 35 mph a whopping 90 feet!
