Longtime ED/MUS instructor retires.....again!

Charles Reynolds began teaching for the Anchorage School District in approximately 1961 or 1962. He retired from the ASD in 1984, and has been teaching MUS/ED classes for MSC/UAA since 1989. During his time at MSC Charles has supervised 111 student teachers!!! He even taught at Anchorage Community College "way back when."

Charles will continue working on a pet project of his: The Colony High School Steel Band (or "Pan Band," as he calls it). He started this band a few years ago as a volunteer, and this band is still going strong. They have performed at the Alaska State Fair, at Girdwood's Alyeska Prince for the Governor's Conference on Education; and for the School Superintendent's Association. Last spring, they did a mini-tour to local elementary schools in the Chugiak and Eagle River area. The Pan Band now includes adults as well as high school students, and they are as passionate about their music as Charles is!

His current ED/MUS 471 Elementary Music Methods class members did a Broadway Style dance as a class requirement and added the "Thanks Charles" to the inside of their derby hats to thank him for a great semester.
