The following sections detail information about different student skills assessment tests, including LASSI, READI, and MAPP. These tests are designed to measure students' strengths and weaknesses in learning compared with other students.
LASSI
The LASSI test, Learning and Study Strategies Inventory, is a 10-scale, 80-item assessment test of students' awareness about and use of learning and study strategies related to skill, will, and self-regulation components of strategic learning.
The LASSI provides standardized scores (percentile score equivalents) and national norms for ten different scales (there is no total score since this is a diagnostic measure).
The LASSI is both diagnostic and prescriptive. It provides students with a diagnosis of their strengths and weaknesses, compared to other college students, in the areas covered by the 10 scales and it is prescriptive in that it provides feedback about areas where students may be weak and need to improve their knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and skills.

READI
The READI Test, Readiness for Education at a Distance Indicator, assesses student’s likelihood and ability to succeed in an online learning program.
The READI Test assesses the following attributes or traits that contribute to success in an online learning program: self-motivation, time management skills, self-discipline, reading comprehension, persistence, availability of time, ability to use a laptop, printer, software, and the internet.
READI uses a sequence of activities to measure the degree to which students possess the traits needed for success in studying at a distance. READI provides an immediate score and diagnostic interpretation of results to the student and to their prospective school.

Academic Profile (MAPP)
The Academic Profile is a test of general education for undergraduates that measures academic skills in the context of material taken from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
The Academic Profile has been recognized as the best measure of college-level reading, mathematics, writing, and critical thinking, in context of the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
In June of 2006 the MAPP Test will be implemented as a successor to the Academic Profile; the MAPP Test will include all of the current features of the Academic Profile as well as assess the general education outcomes of colleges and universities so that the colleges and universities could improve the quality of instruction and learning.
