COMING UP...

Harvest Festival - Student Government is busy getting ready for their Second Annual Harvest Festival this Saturday, October 27 from noon until 3:00 p.m. in Molly’s Playhouse. Lots of games, prizes and food for children of all ages. There is a $3.00 admission fee. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in costumes. The day promises to be loads of fun for all, but will also require lots volunteers to help man the game and food stations, collect money, etc. Donations in the way of cupcakes, brownies, cookies for the cake walk, and candy for trick or treaters are also needed. If you have any extra decorations laying around they could use those too. Decorating will take place on Friday. Call the Student Government office at 745-9759 if you can to help out. It should be a howling good time!

New staff -You may have noticed a friendly new face in the Student Services office. That would be Mica DenBleyker and she will be at the front desk for the remainder of this semester. In the office next to Student Services you will find Sheri Wittman, who was recently hired as a Vocational Counselor for the Workforce Development Grant office. We welcome both of you to Mat-Su!

Flu and pneumonia shots will be available again this year courtesy of Wasilla Medical Clinic. They will at Mat-Su College on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 10:00 a.m. until noon and on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Student Services Office. The cost is $20 per shot.

Dr. Joan O’Leary found out at the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) conference that the article she wrote about the Mat-Su Workforce Development Grant Program will be featured in the national CRLA newsletter in November...so, we'll be getting a little bit of national coverage. Congratulations Joan!

Dr. P.T. Chang applied for and received a $2500 grant from the Chancellor's Advancement Project. The money is to be used by the Faculty Diversity Committee to promote community relationships and recruit prospective students. Congratulations P.T.!

Connie Cannon and Roger Endell visited Colony High School to administer English asset tests to 78 high school seniors. Kerry Ann Byrd will be teaching a concurrent enrollment class in ENGL A111 next semester.
