Webmail Instructions
The information below pertains to the UAA Webmail system, full email accounts, and instructions for accessing mail online.
UAA email account - Faculty & Staff
Some full-time faculty and staff have two accounts--UAA and Mat-Su. Many emails are sent to UAA accounts and then forwarded to Mat-Su accounts. For that reason, UAA accounts periodically get full and subsequently cease all forwarding of email messages. Follow the instructions below to access an account.
UAA webmail account access instructions
- Open your web browser and navigate to: http://mail.uaa.alaska.edu.
- When the login screen appears, enter your username
and password. Your username will be the same as the
prefix of your email address, (i.e. if your email is
pfedt4@uaa.alaska.edu,
your login is pfedt4).
Note: Instructors, your login may begin with pf, af, pn, or ps. This prefix is dependant upon your initial status when you entered the UA system. Visit the UAA Technology website to search for your login ID in the form titled "Username Lookup" near the left side of the page.

- Your inbox displays by default, and from here you can
click on the subject of an email to read its contents.

- Use the "Addresses" menu bar option to display a list of contacts as well as options for creating new groups, entries, and for updating existing contacts.
- Use the "Options" menu bar option to display a list of
account management settings, including:
Account Summary: details on your email address, your name as it appears on outgoing messages, and the amount of disk space you have for email storage.
Personal Information: Change your preferred language, replay-to address, or automatic signature information.
Password: It is recommended that you change your password from the on initially assigned to any other combination of letters and numbers--make it difficult for someone else to guess.
Settings: Options for deleting mail, sent messages, and message drafts, reply quoting, and mail forwarding.
Appearance: Configuration settings for how your browser will display your inbox. Note: this is where you can change the number of displayed emails in your inbox.
Vacation Message: Provides an auto-response to emails received while this setting is enable. Program with a response of your choosing.
