Quick Facts
- Check the statistics category of the Reference section on the library's home page
- For U.S. statistics, start with FedStats
- For Alaska statistics, try the Alaska Statistics Index
- Consider the reliability of the source for any statistical information you find
The statistics sources in the Reference section of this site provide good starting points. The UAA Consortium Library also maintains a page of statistics sources.
University libraries frequently collect links to sources for statistics. The Documents Center at the University of Michigan Library is a good source, but by no means the only one.
You can find many good lists by searching for "statistics sources site:.edu" on Google. You can reduce the number of websites by adding the subject (i.e. crime, economics, sociology,...) to the search. Since the pages are tailored to students of specific institutions, some of the sites will not be available to you, but many will.
A word of caution about using Google: be very careful to track any information found there back to a reliable source.
