Community Education / Non-Credit Courses: Our goal is to provide a variety of learning and teaching opportunities for a diverse community in order to educate, entertain and enrich the lives of our residents. Community education is an important component of any community college because it provides an opportunity to remain actively and mindfully engaged in lifelong learning. A wide array of possible topics may include business & professional development, computers & technology, finance & investing, heath & wellness, home & garden, fitness, sports & recreation, personal growth & development as well as other topics.
Enrollment: Enrollment in community education classes is on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-enrollment is required. The decision to cancel a class for lack of enrollment is made one week prior to the start date. We will accept registrations up to the starting date of the class; however we emphasize the importance of early registration. By waiting until the last minute to sign up you risk the possibility that the class is full or has been cancelled. Unless otherwise noted, enrollment in community education classes is for adults 18 and older. Register online or on-site. Call 745-9746 for registration information.
Fees: Course fees are based on the cost of instruction, supplies and promotion and vary with each course. Fees are payable at the time of registration. If the class is cancelled or rescheduled you will be notified. It is important that we have both daytime and evening telephone phone numbers where you can be reached.
Refunds: If a class is cancelled a full refund will be given. No refunds are provided after the class begins.

For updated information check the printout in Student Services (FSM 101 & 102) or on the MSC website @ www.matsu.alaska.edu. We may cancel it because we didn’t know you wanted it. Sometimes excellent courses with superior instructors are cancelled because people waited too long to register. To avoid any inconvenience to students and instructors, we may cancel under-enrolled courses before the semester begins. Don’t wait! Failure to read the Course Schedule, the UAA Catalog or, the MSC Bulletin does not excuse the student from the rules and procedures described in those documents. The University reserves the right to change or withdraw courses; to change the fees, rules, and calendar for admission, registration, instruction, and graduation; and to change other regulations affecting the student body at any time. The University of Alaska Anchorage and Mat-Su College have a strong institutional commitment to the principles of diversity and take affirmative action to achieve that end. The University does not discriminate in its educational and employment programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, creed, religion, or veteran status. ● Financial Obligations: Students are held financially responsible for all courses for which they register. Failure to pay will result in interest, late fees, or collection costs being added to a student’s account. ● Payment Deadline: September 9, 2008 @ 5:00 p.m. ● Refunds & Withdrawals: To be eligible for a refund, you must submit a completed Add/Drop form to Student Services. Lack of attendance does not constitute dropping a class. It is your responsibility to insure that the request is received by the registration office. If you are taking a class for a grade and withdraw after refund date, you will receive a “W” on your transcript and will not receive a refund. You may not withdraw from a class after the withdrawal date published in this schedule. |
