The Math Club mission is to promote the expansion of student interests in the study of mathematics, while providing the necessary support for the advancement and progression of all students in the field of mathematics.

The Math Club fulfills its mission by meeting the following goals:

  • Tutor Referral Service. The Math Club actively participates as a tutor referral service for students within the Mat-Su College and the students in the community. Members of the math club also support this endeavor by offering extended knowledge of mathematics, and tutor various subject areas that they may be proficient in.
  • Inter-member book loan program. This program is a necessary and vital service, which allows the club to support the advancement of mathematics for those students who may be financially unable to progress into another mathematics subject area.
  • Mathematics friendly environment. The Math Club believes in creating a friendly environment where the students feel comfortable to seek assistance with mathematics from within the members as well as the faculty. This will provide an environment conducive to the expansion of mathematics beyond course curriculum.
  • Reference Library and Tutorials – It is the goal of the Math Club to continue to raise money for the development of a math lab which will contain mathematical reference materials and tutorials. This long-term goal will be supported by the many fundraisers and the exploration and research of a possible grant to help support this project.
