With all the resources available to students at Mat-Su College, some may have been overlooked. This resource highlights the different departments and areas of the campus that are most helpful to students applying for admission, registering for classes, buying books, seeking financial aid, and more!
Nobody told me about... Advising
- I need to see an academic advisor.
- Classmates are not advisors.
- AA and AAS degrees are different.
- Withdrawals do not affect your GPA.
- To apply for graduation.
Nobody told me about... Registration
- I can take telecourses and web courses.
- I can take on-line courses.
- To register early.
- Schedules are available before registration.
- There is on-line registration.
- Students are responsible for registering, dropping, and withdrawing from classes.
- Dropping and withdrawing are two different things.
- There is no refund for withdrawals.
- I may be dropped for non-payment.
- I need a picture ID to transact business.
Nobody told me about... Financial Aid
- I need to apply for financial aid early.
- The financial aid process takes time.
- I should follow up on my paperwork and/or process.
- I can get a deferment for my fees in some circumstances.
- I can see financial aid for work student programs.
- If receiving financial aid, I may be penalized for withdrawing.
Nobody told me about... textbooks
It helps to have a printout of my classes with me when I
purchase my
textbooks! Ask for a printout at
Student
Services in FSM 101.
Nobody told me...
- There are free tutors in the Learning Resource Center (LRC).
- There is a Student Government Council.
- There is a cafeteria.
- Assistance is available for Veterans.
- Disability Support Services are provided for students who qualify.
- There is no substitute for studying!
