Enrollment

Enrollment in community education classes is on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-enrollment is required. The decision to cancel a class for lack of enrollment is decided one week prior to the start date. We will accept registrations up to the starting date of the class; however we emphasize the importance of early registration. By waiting until the last minute to sign up you risk the possibility that the class is full or has been cancelled.

 

Fees

Course fees are based on the cost of instruction, supplies and promotion and vary with each course. Fees are payable at the time of registration. If the class is cancelled or rescheduled you will be notified. It is important that we have both daytime and evening telephone phone numbers where you can be reached.

 

Refunds

If a class is cancelled a full refund will be given. No refunds are provided after the class begins.

An introduction to classic cross- country skiing. This course will cover diagonal stride techniques, herringbone, snow plow, waxing, equipment, clothing, safety and where to go.  Note: Students are to provide their own equipment and supplies needed. Class meets indoors at MSC on Jan 26 from 10:00am -12:00 (noon). On Feb 9 from 9:00am- 12:30pm in SNOD 119, then from 1:00pm - 3:00pm will met outdoors. All remaining classes will be held outdoors at the Crevasse Trail System, depending on snow conditions. An alternate site may be selected in the event that trail conditions are not suitable. Students must have appropriate clothing for cold weather.

Taiji is a martial art which emphasizes subtle, flowing movements. Self-defense applications involve subtleties of leverage and balance. Applications within the form are practiced as a method to learn and better understand the movements themselves. This course will involve students learning the eight movements of the Taiji Moquan - or "mother form" in the Wudang He style of Taiji.
    Note: Class is designed for the novice with no prior experience. Information on available classes the community will be made available to students who wish to further their learning in Tai'Chi and or other marshal arts.

Designed with the beginner student in mind, this is a 90-minute class emphasizing basic yoga postures that work to release tightness, increase core strength, and develop inner awareness. This class combines movement and breath to foster flexibility, relaxation and self-awareness. This is a wonderful class to learn the art of yoga and experience principles for de-stressing your life. There will be some time for discussion and pose break down following an hour and fifteen minute practice.
Note: Students should bring a yoga mat to the first class meeting and wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement. It is recommended that students not eat a heavy meal before coming to class. Bring a water bottle if desired.
